    that still point
                            suspended

    between ebb and flow

    between crashing wave
    and sucking wave

    on a shallow beach
    surf fizzing my ankles --

    foam shadows shift
    into stars

    shining on underwater
    sand

    dark centers radiating
    three--five--eight
    spikes

    slipping through my fingers
    luminous

                     evanescent

                                        --miles now

    stepping into stars
    stars on my toes
    all the liquid way
