BONE KNOWLEDGE

by Dorothy Mack

In October Pam Tangible wrote, "Listen and your bones will speak."(FB 10/95), to which Peg Phillips replied, "Listen--but not to your bones....to the unknown pure gentle voice."(FB 12/95). I’ve been asked to share what I mean by bone knowledge.

We can learn directly from experience, indirectly from reading or listening to others, but some things we have always known. I call this bone knowledge.

Born-with knowing, knowing with the body rather than learning with the mind. Deep knowing in the marrow, vibrant in the body.

Sometimes we wake up and have it. Without thinking, we know in our wrists, in our ankles, that something is so, has always been so. We never doubted it, we just had to remember it.

What’s a bone knowledge truth?

We are never alone. Each One is connected to the Whole. Always. Whether perceived as God(ess) or Cosmos, Great Mystery or Web of Life.

We can study life and death, but we know immortality in our bones.
